bbq is short form for barbecue, and it appears in many different ways. For instance, one can find it as Bar-B-Q, BarBQ, Bar-B-Que or even Bar-B-Cue. In Australia and New Zealand one simply says “barbie” or “barby“.
The word itself means cooking that uses fire and smoke to prepare foods. However the precise meaning changes according to the place where one lives, and in some parts of the world the definition of barbecue is very debated.

Sixteen to eighteen pounds of raw brisket needs around eighteen hours to fully smoke. Twelve to fifteen pounds of Boston butt takes around twelve hours. It is smart to keep some hamburger patties and hot dogs in the fridge, for cases when unexpected guests arrive or picky children wantsomething simple.
For wings served alone, seven to ten pieces per person works well. Preferences for bbq sauce vary too. Good sauce has the right mix between sweetness and bitterness.
Some sauces use cola syrup and applesauce as a base. There are always sides to offer with bbq.
