Pepsi is a fizzy cola drink with a typical cola flavor. PepsiCo produces it and considers it its main product. In 2023 Pepsi ranked as the second most valued cola brand globally, only after Coca-Cola.
Those two brands have a long rivalry, that one calls the “cola wars”.
What is Pepsi
PepsiCo ranks between the biggest food and drink companies in North America, and it is the second globally, after Nestlé alone. The company offers a wide range of foods and drink brands. Except the classic Pepsi, here find Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Zero, Pepsi Wild Cherry, Schweppes Ginger Ale, Schweppes Tonic, Crush Orange, Sierra Mist, Mountain Dew and Mug Root Beer.

The ingredients of Pepsi are made up of fizzy water, corn syrup with high fructose, caramel colour, sugar, phosphoric acid, Caffeine, citric acid and natural flavors. Its standard serving stores around 38 milligrams of Caffeine. Pepsi appears in various packages, as 7,5 liquid ounce, 12 liquid ounce, 16 liquid ounce, 20 liquid ounce, 24 liquid ounce or even 2-liter bottles.
Also fountain versions exist.
Among funny stories is the Pepsi-Challenge. In malls, shopping centers and other public places Pepsi-representatives laid a table with too empty glasses. In one was Pepsi, in the other Coca-Cola.
Visitors received an invitation to try both colas. In that blind test many chose Pepsi, saying that it seems more sweet.
Before Pepsi carried pepsin, an enzyme that helped digestion. A bit earlier existed chewing gum with pepsin also. When some offered to Pepsi the secret recipe of Coca-Cola, the company immediately informed its competition about that person.
Although they compete commercially, they depend one on the other.
Pepsi Max stores much Caffeine for a 24-ounce serving. It also has much sweetener. Only since the sweeteners are not fructose, it still affects the blood sugar and triggers insulinresponses.
Except drinks, one uses Pepsi even in the kitchen. Some recipes suggest to pour it above chicken bits in a dutch oven, covering with barbecue sauce and later pouring more Pepsi on. There are also recipes for Pepsi cola barbecue sauce.
One launched a newfountain version from one of the most liked tasty variants of Pepsi, which is loved because of the bubbly, fresh fountain drink that many love.
